Description
This is the second finished piece for my Bachelor series based on my explorations in Germany and a look at the German Urban landscape. This one is based on Frankfurt.
There are a few things you notice almost immediately once you leave the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) in Frankfurt: it is has a much stronger modern influence than most German cities, and secondly its large red light district which is right in front of the main train station, between it and the CBD. This was the first city I saw in Germany, and this was the first impression I had of the country.
The idea for turning Frankfurt into a Space ship is based around the city's more contemporary architecture compared to most other cities in Europe and the truly international feel of the city. Some of the Skyscrapers look like they should be capable of flight too
Frankfurt is much more like the Australian version of a big city: it has far more skyscrapers than any other EU city, which I guess makes sense, being one of the world's big financial centres. Looking into it later, it seems there was much, much less of an effort compared to other cities post WWII to rebuild the old city after it was almost completely leveled in 1944-5. This, for the most part, seems to be a blessing.
Once again all the stock is mine, shot over 3 different visits to the city, with some extra miscellaneous bits and pieces from other travels (eg the pipes and transistors, the planet in the foreground is based on an image I shot from the plane over Western NSW). The image is primarily photo-manipulation, combined with some 3D and painted elements.
PS, C4D and Corel Painter.
Enjoy

Amaaaazing!! I live about one hour away from Frankfurt, but I can still see the skyscrapers.
It's the only city in Germany with a skyscraper skyline.
